14th TRT Documentary Awards announced

The 14th edition of the International TRT Documentary Awards, an annual documentary festival successfully organized by TRT taking inspiration from its long history and experience in broadcasting, will take place in ─░stanbul from December 14th to 17th. The competition for the TRT Documentary Awards will be held in four different categories as part of the TRT Documentary Awards. A special 100th Anniversary Award will also be presented, as a special occasion for the year 2023.

Submissions for the competition will begin on October 6, 2023, and will end on November 5, 2023. Preliminary results will be announced on November 12, 2023, and the winners will be announced at the award ceremony on December 17, 2023.

A special selection of documentaries submitted in the award categories will be screened for the audience during the four-day program of the International TRT Documentary Awards, which enriches the story-telling tradition in Türkiye and around the world and provides support to professional and amateur documentary filmmakers. Masterclass events with world-renowned filmmakers and directors will take place, along with discussions and workshops about the present and future of documentary filmmaking.

All events will be free of charge and open to the public.

 

The motto of this year’s event: HISTORICAL TRACES, INSPIRING STORIES

 

This year, the International TRT Documentary Awards will be held with the motto “Historical Traces, Inspiring Stories”, inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. The event with the chosen motto, aims at evoking an association with the country’s legacy, historical richness, and the horizon envisioned from today to tomorrow, and the common stories shared in this journey.

100th Anniversary Special Award

 

As part of the TRT Documentary Awards, a special award will also be given in the 2023 edition of the event, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye. The TRT Documentary Awards’ 100th Anniversary Special Award will not have a separate application process; the winner will be selected by the TRT Documentary Awards Organization and Execution Committee, from among the submissions made in all national categories, with a length of no less than 20 minutes for the National Professional category and at least 15 minutes for the National Student Category.
