Local manufacturing of soda pop in Turkey starts in 1930s and spreads throughout the country afterwards. In 1960s, the number of local manufacturers had already reached up to one thousand. The on-going local manufacturing tried to survive until 1990s, their struggle became harder when international brands entered the local market in late 60s and eventually most of them were defeated being unable to compete with the monopolistic strategies of international brands.

Local soda, whose trademark was the variety of its local taste, was defeated by the Cola which promises the happiness that comes with an unvariable taste all around the world.

Unfortunately, local soda was not the only one defeated by Cola, also a generation's life style got its share out of it. Mostly oriented by production and savings in the past, our lives has gradually transformed into a comsumption based form of existence.

“Local Tale of Soda: Strive to Survive” tells the story and struggle against this change with reminding the local soda brands of Turkey.
